In my previous story, I decided to write a little bit about myself. A brief introduction, or maybe a kind of talkative description of myself. But this time, I would like to write a few lines about you.

What do I mean by writing about you? I probably never met you, and if so, I could not know if it is actually you who is reading this writing unless you clap or leave some response here?

By you, I mean exactly you — the actual reader of my stories, the one who, for some reason, happened to be reading even these little paragraphs.

And it’s nice to meet you, even though in such a desynchronized way.

But even though we cannot speak to each other right now, you can read what I’ve left here for you, right?

When I write about whatever topic I write I every time think about my readers, how will various readers react to different parts of my stories. So, you, as my potential future reader, are practically part of my writing process.

And as my reader of finished story, you have an awesome opportunity to let me know what you like and dislike about my it!

And I’m really curious your opinions!

Do you enjoy my work? That’s awesome — perhaps you could leave just me a little note about it. It would mean so much to me and it will fuel me to write more.

And if you dislike my words, if you perhaps have a different opinion or you simply hate my writing style — well, don’t be shy and throw all your disappointment at me — only then can I get better, see your point of view on the given topic, and maybe I can write something you will enjoy more next time!

You see? By simple reading and exchanging views we are getting to know each other.

And by you just reading these lines I already know that you perhaps love seeking thoughts and reading all those stories that we have on Medium.

I, as an author but also a curious reader just like you, love to see all those signs of interest left by others in everybody’s work, and it is exactly this that pushes us forward every single day.

So, because of that, I am really glad for any clap or highlight that I see on all those stories, even though some of them could be the “empty ones.”

And no, I’m not angry if you just visit my or anyone else’s stories, leaving just a clap or two and simply jumping out without staying for a minute…

Sure, it would be better if you did so, as we would see your real interest in all those writings (and we would be able to fund our bottomless cans of coffee), but even without it, I still must say thank you.

I think that it is that social aspect of Medium that we all really love about this platform.

There is so much information and so many various stories around that we never expected that we could be reading before.

Sure, there are many websites with various newspaper articles and writings about everything, but Medium is somehow unique in this aspect.

The knowledge that we can find in various topics from totally different areas every day, to learn new stuff, to enhance our knowledge in so many ways, is really captivating.

And in most cases, it’s your writings that I’m going through.

Yes, I must admit that I usually read the stories of readers who somehow interacted with my own writings. We all love to be rewarded for our work, but an even better feeling is when we can give something back.

So, yeah, you may see that for your claps, I somehow appear (or have already appeared) myself on your own stories (and sometimes I am maybe sorry for my crazy responses).

Please note: I don’t engage in reciprocal exchanges. While you’re welcome to read my articles, I don’t share it blindly for claps and to exchange your claps for mine. This practice doesn’t benefit anyone in the long run and goes against the rules. Please refrain from offering such to me and thank you that you respect that I do not engage in such activities!

Also, I would bet that you do not expect that we will follow each other just for the sake of mutual following. Personally, I also do not see any value in this, as I do not like to do empty gestures like that. And I think you are the same.

So, I think that you would much rather like to visit my profile and see what interesting things you can find there, right?

And I do the same — browsing around, looking for interesting writings, and reading them in their entirety — because what should I get from an incomplete story?

What should all of us get from skipping big parts of all these writings?

What would we all be without each other?

Even distant stars in the night sky form into constellations, and only because of this do we remember them.

Some may shine alone, some may shine brighter, but only together do they grasp the attention of many others.

You, reader of my stories, are the star that shows me the way through the night sky.

Hi there! Could you help me write more stories like this? If you enjoyed this one, sharing it with your friends or posting it on social media would be amazing! ✨

Every comment is welcome, as your feedback helps me improve. And of course, thanks for reading — it truly means a lot!
